Sex trafficking can happen to anyone, regardless of age, culture, income, or gender. 

Victims are often lured by someone they know. Whether by males they consider to be their boyfriends or through friends who are victims themselves, sex traffickers are recruiting teens across the globe. 

Empowering our youth is vital when it comes to the fight against human trafficking. Anyone can be a victim, but those most vulnerable to sex trafficking are teenagers. 

As informed adults, it’s important to not only talk about human trafficking with your teen but to keep the conversation ongoing. 

Anyone can be a victim of human trafficking, and the most vulnerable are teens. 

Not only are youth vulnerable, but significant risk factors also include recent migration or relocation, substance use, mental health issues, being in the child welfare/ foster care system, and being a runaway or homeless youth. 

Raising awareness is a powerful preventative measure in the fight against sex trafficking. Awareness of the prevalence of sex trafficking and the warning signs can help keep our kids safe from this growing crime.

Watching a loved one become a victim in a human trafficking situation can feel both terrifying and hopeless.
